Day 3 – A Song that Makes You Happy: "Time Bomb High School"

“Time Bomb High School” – Reigning Sound

The guitars thrash, the drums pound, the singer wails about not fitting in and about how “when summer comes (hey!) / I’m gonna have some fun.” Pure rock and roll! Still, it may seem a bit odd to choose a song whose theme is about being the odd-man out in the clique-ish world of high school for ‘song that makes you happy’ … not too mention that the “time bomb” high school is where the singer is “hoping some spazz don’t lose his mind.” Trenchcoats abound, I’m assuming. But this song is a 1:36 blast of rock and roll energy that makes me smile for its entire duration, and many minutes afterwards. If The Ramones and The Boss had a baby, the ugly little ba$tard would cry like the Reigning Sound: constantly, loudly, and joyously.
